Abstract: Nomophobia, or no mobile phone phobia, is a kind of situational anxiety caused by the fear of being out of mobile phone contact. Recent researches have demonstrated the widespread existence of nomophobia. Theories related with nomophobia hold different points, such as fear of missing out, mobile phone attachment and self-expansion theory. The nomophobia could be influenced by factors such as individual characteristics (demographic variables, personality traits, etc.) and mobile phone use behavior. Meanwhile, nomophobia would cause many negative psychology and behavior problems. On this basis, we point out the future research direction.

Key words: mobile phone use, nomophobia, situational phobia, antecedents and consequences
