A Research on Subtypes of Social Withdrawal in 9 Year-old Children

Abstract: The subjects were 288 9-year-old children and their mothers,teachers in this study.Peer nomination was used to select social withdrawal children,94 children were named withdrawal; children in which 77 cases were valid.Hierarchical cluster analysis,based on child temperament and social behavior and parenting(control),was used to identify the subtypes of social withdrawal and three main clusters were created,which were labeled "unsociable","shy",and "be controlled",respectively.The ratio analysis indicated that there was no significant difference between social withdrawal boys and girls,and no significant difference between three subtypes.
