The results indicated that the first-year college students' EFL writing anxiety significantly and negatively predicted writing self-efficacy, while their EFL writing self-efficacy had a strong direct effect on writing performance, and the relationship between writing anxiety and writing performance was completely mediated by writing self-efficacy.
