Reliability and Validity of the Chinese Version of Teacher Efficacy Scale

Abstract: The aim of the study was to adapt a famous teacher efficacy scale (TES) developed by Hoy & Woolfolk (1993) into a Chinese version.The psychometrics and construct validity were also evaluated in the study.The results showed that the Chinese version of TES is of good reliability,structural validity and concurrent validity,which can be generalized for future research and practical use.The results of factor analysis of showed that the TES was consisted of two independent dimensions,namely general teaching efficacy (GTE) and personal teaching efficacy (PTE).The differences of teachers' characteristics such as years of teaching and professional job title affect the personal teaching efficacy very little.
